Yoga Teacher Training  ( Yoga Alliance registered)

The Lafayette Center for Yoga Teacher Training Program is a 200 hour course of study and practice sourced from traditional Ashtanga Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga provides the philosophical foundations of all yoga practice and the genesis of yoga itself. LCFY is the only Ashtanga based Teacher Training program in Louisiana. There are no experience or knowledge prerequisites for this course...only a deep commitment to oneself. Students of all levels are encouraged to use this course to either begin or continue a journey of personal acceptance, and to develop or enhance one's personal practice.

The program begins with the principles and practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, a dynamic, energetic sequence of postures that creates internal body heat, thereby promoting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. Ashtanga is an “Eight Limbed” system that has followed traditional teachings for hundreds of years and is at the core of this course of study.

The study then focuses on Hatha Slow Flow Yoga; a style developed by their teacher, Jonny Kest, and passed on with his blessing. This form of Hatha Yoga uses the complete yogic breath and closed eyes to focus attention inward. This combination brings great ease to the body, as it releases tension which is often the root cause of illness.

Integrated with Ashtanga and Slow Flow studies, students will learn Yin Yoga, a practice of balance between your ambitious, energetic self and your peaceful, contented natural state. This calming Yoga practice emphasizes deep breathing and gentle deep tissue stretching.

In addition, the students will study philosophy of yoga, anatomy and physiology, and develop a meditation practice.

The Lafayette Center for Yoga is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of the course requirements, you may registered as a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). Mentoring programs through practice teaching and feedbacks session are available for those who want to teach.
